about

One woman became the subject of a lot of this album. This was about a month before we started officially 'dating', but after our first date. She laid on the familiar "IM NOT SURE WHAT I WANT!" and the hesitance (after what had been a crazy amazing first date... cramazing fidate) was frustrating. Needless to say this song wasn't part of the courting process. Just personal therapy.

The horns on this tune actually started as an arranging project in college that I liked enough to want to record. It's constantly re-arranged live and I like it that way.

lyrics

Forgive me, give me all that you can now
I do believe I'm strong enough to be your man
I know I jumped in much too quick
My heart was in it I must admit
Please understand I know just what you're thinking
On your own is easier than pain
But being alone is kind of like drinking
Do you really see truth through the haze?

Life is,
Every breath you take based on the choices that you make
Tell me when you're lonely and I will be your one and only
Every breath you make, it's the chances that you're willing to take
Life can be sure...

Tired excuses and you can't refuse it
Push away something to make room for something else
I think that it's time for a bit of soul searching
Searching for reasons to forgive yourself
When every excuse is just like the last girl
"My life's a mess and I can't deal with this stress"
Well don't you think I know what it's all for?
But I've never downed a chance at being wrong

Life is,
Every breath you take based on the choices that you make
Tell me when you're lonely and I will be your one and only
Every breath you take it's the choices that you're willing to make
Life can be sure...

I'm just askin for a chance to show you not all love is riddled with pain
Everybody at first glance can seem the same

Forgive me, oh, forgive me please for preaching
I know the heart ache has turned you cold
But maybe that plateau you wish you were reaching
Is not something you get til you grow old
Is not something that you can get on your own
