Any songwriter will tell you that love songs are the hardest to write while you're in love. I think when love really takes hold it takes root like an old oak tree that you swear must have been standing since before you remember. Most any other emotion in comparison is fleeting, and the sense of urgency that pushes most of us to write is tangibly present. This song had a right to exist and one day I just had to tell myself to sit down and write it. I'm glad I did.
lyrics
My life has been written as two things
One confidence, assurity, one fear of what the future brings
And I don't remember dreams,
As vivid as they are I can't hold anything
But I do remember you,
You were dancing in the rain
and I remember saying...
Jaw dropped as she walked away
Turned to my side just to say
Damn that girl done struck my eye
Her sway is like a lullaby
Throw myself in and here it comes,
Looks like we march, to different drums
My heart goes in but don't come out
Same sad story they all talk about
Naturally came sorrow songs,
But before too long
Your love came crashing like a wave
Lucky me to get swept away
I'm all in you
I'm all strung out on faith's desire, with my voice to sooth
I'm all in you
And my voice will never tire, saying...
